Foul play suspected in local missing person case

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – A man who was last seen in Grand Island has come up missing. Police believe foul play might be involved.

The Grand Island Police Department notified the press about a 34-year-old Hispanic male who went missing under suspicious circumstances.

Authorities believe Fernando Ortiz-Carreras might have been involved in a fight before his disappearance on December 10th.

However, there was really no word of this until Tuesday morning, so we asked why it took over ten days for police to send a press release about the investigation.

Officials said that when an adult goes missing it’s more difficult to find an explanation as to why he or she disappeared.

“Once there’s information that would lead us to believe it’s anything out of the normal circumstances, that’s when we would go to the public for information,” said Captain Jim Duering of
