Petersburg-Dinwiddie Crime Solvers seeking board members

Board members approve rewards, raise funds, and promote the program

The Crime Solvers organization has a unique beginning.

Crime Stoppers began in 1976 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a re-enactment of the murder of a gas station attendant. The local media publicized the crime and an offer of a reward. Anonymous tips led to the solving of the crime. Today, there are over 1,200 individual Crime Stoppers/Solvers organizations in more than 20 countries. These chapters have been responsible for arresting 600,000 individuals and recovering 6 billion dollars in property and drugs.

Each Crime Stoppers chapter is administered by a board of directors who approves rewards, raises funds, and promotes the program.

The success of Crime Stoppers/Solvers is dependent on a three-way partnership between citizens, local media, and law enforcement.

The Petersburg-Dinwiddie Crime Solvers is a community involvement program, created to provide a means for citizens to safely and anonymously report
