Police arrest 17 in sex trafficking mission

The Portland Police Bureau’s Sex Trafficking Unit has arrested 17 men — including four residents of East Multnomah County — after conducting undercover missions online.

James Cummings, 22, of Fairview, Jaime Fraga-Altamirano, 31, of Troutdale, Benjamin Wirth, 28, of Happy Valley and Dung Nguyen, 46, of Happy Valley were among the 16 men cited and released for commercial sexual solicitation.

The other male was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on the same accusation.

Investigators led undercover sex trafficking missions during July to address online sex trafficking.

Police officers posted online advertisements on sex trafficking websites as bait, resulting in 17 men contacting undercover police officers to pay for sexual acts. Portland-area hotels helped with this part of the investigation.

Anyone with information about this type of crime can call the Portland Police Bureau’s Sex Trafficking unit at 503-255-0118; the Sexual Assault Resource Center hotline at 1-800-640-5311; or the

Will new DNA evidence vindicate Yakima man cleared in 1995 rape?

After a lengthy interrogation by Yakima police, Ted Bradford falsely confessed to a rape and spent nearly 10 years in prison.

His 1996 conviction was later vacated in Yakima County Superior Court after the Innocence Project Northwest intervened on his behalf. Bradford then was acquitted during his second trial in 2010, largely because of DNA evidence that proved another man’s skin cells were on a key piece of evidence.

But even then, Bradford’s attorneys say there are plenty of people — including the Yakima County prosecutor and the state Attorney General — who have remained convinced of Bradford’s guilt.

Thanks to Bradford’s team of dogged Seattle attorneys, a private investigator and saliva picked out of the garbage, a new suspect was identified almost two weeks

Los Angeles Man Gets Message Across By Repeatedly Slamming Car Into Traffic

History indicates that this video showing a man repeatedly plowing his automobile into the cars in front of him in assumed outrage but perhaps some other motive may not be unusual behavior in present day Los Angeles.

Modern automobiles feature a suite of suitable gadgets and options to enable motorists to effectively communicate with one another. There are the turn signals to help communicate direction. You can flash your headlights as a warning, or signal of danger, or a lurking cop. Sometimes there are even opportunities for direct verbal confrontation. Heaven forbid, but even the horn could be used to communicate in extreme circumstances.

But often we find that communication breaks down in highly stressful environments where individuals may be angry or otherwise pressured. It’s an unfortunate reality, but all of us have
