Football star’s wrongful conviction for rape gets Hollywood treatment – The San Diego Union

Here’s a fun thought: In the movie of your life, who would play you?

It’s a question Brian Banks, a high school football standout in Long Beach before he was convicted of a rape charge — a crime he did not commit — need not ask any longer.

Deadline.com reported recently that actors Aldis Hodge and Greg Kinnear have been tapped to star in a movie about Banks’ life, including the false accusation by a classmate in 2002 that led to the athlete’s five-year stint in prison, and the work of the San Diego-based California Innocence Project that led to his exoneration 10 years later.

Hodge’s fans will recognize him from his work in the television series “Underground” and appearances in hit movies, such as last year’s “Hidden Figures” and 2015’s “Straight Outta Compton.”
