HILLSDALE — A Jonesville area man arrested in August on a variety of criminal charges revolving around his internet activity with a local minor was sentenced to local jail time and probation on Monday morning in Hillsdale County Circuit Court.
Chadwick Joseph Forant, 40, pleaded guilty to possession of child sexually abusive material, a four-year felony, Sept. 5 in circuit court in a plea bargain arranged with the Hillsdale County Prosecutor’s Office who agreed to dismiss charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime.
Handcuffed and shackled, Forant appeared in court Monday morning in jail-house greens and sat quietly next to his attorney, Rod Dunham, throughout most of the sentencing hearing other than taking an opportunity to offer a slight apology.
“I apologize for my actions,” Forant said.
