Midlands student approached by stranger at bus stop

Lexington School District 1 received a report Thursday of a student at a bus stop being approached by a stranger in a vehicle.

According to a letter sent to parents from district superintendent Greg Little, the incident involved a student in the White Knoll attendance area. A specific school was not identified.

“That stranger asked if the student needed a ride,” Little said in the letter. “At that time the bus pulled up, and the student immediately reported it to the bus driver. That driver then called it in to her supervisor, administrators at the school, and the school resource officer, who also quickly contacted law enforcement.

“While no one was hurt today, we do find the driver’s behavior concerning.”

Lexington County Police confirmed receiving a report of the incident. The driver was described as a young white male in a silver or gray four-door sedan.
