UPDATE: Alert for missing boy canceled after triple homicide in Ohio

PEDRO, Ohio — Authorities still are searching for a suspect, but have canceled the missing-child alert for a 7-year-old boy who was sought following an incident in southern Ohio that left three people dead and a fourth hospitalized.

The Lawrence County sheriff’s office and the state attorney general’s office wouldn’t immediately confirm Thursday whether the boy, Devin Holston, was found safe.

The sheriff’s office said earlier Thursday there was reason to believe Holston was injured or in danger after the discovery of the adults’ bodies in a residence on State Route 93 at about 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11. Three adults inside were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to a news release from Sheriff Jeff Lawless.

A fourth victim, located at another residence about ¼ mile from the initial scene, had apparent stab wounds to the neck and head and was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
