West Yorkshire Hosts Police Twitter Awards 2017
West Yorkshire Police will host the 2017 national Police Twitter Awards @policeawards today, Friday November 24.
The event will take place at the Force’s training and development centre at Carr Gate in Wakefield and will celebrate the success of police accounts on the social media site over the past twelve months.
The inaugural awards took place in 2011, and have gone from strength to strength with the popularity of Twitter for police and emergency services to communicate to the public increasing each year. The first formal Police Twitter Awards ceremony was held in December 2016 and was hosted by Northamptonshire Police.
As well as hosting the awards, West Yorkshire Police has a number of nominees listed as finalists in this year’s awards, including Chief Constable Dee Collins @WYPDeeCollins in the category of Best Tweeting Senior Officer, and West Yorkshire Police Mounted Section @WYPHorses in the category of
