UPDATE: Alert for missing boy canceled after triple homicide in Ohio

PEDRO, Ohio — Authorities still are searching for a suspect, but have canceled the missing-child alert for a 7-year-old boy who was sought following an incident in southern Ohio that left three people dead and a fourth hospitalized.

The Lawrence County sheriff’s office and the state attorney general’s office wouldn’t immediately confirm Thursday whether the boy, Devin Holston, was found safe.

The sheriff’s office said earlier Thursday there was reason to believe Holston was injured or in danger after the discovery of the adults’ bodies in a residence on State Route 93 at about 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11. Three adults inside were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to a news release from Sheriff Jeff Lawless.

A fourth victim, located at another residence about ¼ mile from the initial scene, had apparent stab wounds to the neck and head and was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

AMBER Alert for 3-year-old Texas girl discontinued

RICHARDSON, Tex. – An AMBER Alert issued Saturday for a 3-year-old girl was discontinued Monday afternoon after investigators reportedly failed to find any leads in her whereabouts.

Sherin Mathews was last seen Oct. 7 wearing a pink top and black pajama bottoms. Her father, Wesley Mathews, was arrested Saturday and charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

Pollye Smelley, 75, has a cognitive impairment that may jeopardize her health and safety, authorities said. 

She was last seen about 10 a.m. driving a burgundy 2012 GMC Terrain in Longview, about 130 miles east of Dallas. 

Smelley is described as white, about 5-foot-2 and 150 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. 

Anyone with information is asked to call the Harrison County sheriff’s office at 903-923-4000.

Silver Alert: Missing Eastland man has cognitive impairment …

Carl Reeves, 77, has a cognitive impairment that may jeopardize his health and safety, authorities said. He was last seen about 6 p.m. driving a silver 2011 Jeep Compass with Texas license plate JFJ 0905 in Eastland, about 130 miles west of Dallas. 

Reeves is described as white, about 5-foot-2 and 145 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. 

Anyone with information on Reeves’ whereabouts is asked to call the Callahan County sheriff’s office at 325-854-1444.

Wausau father arrested in Amber Alert case gets prison time

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) — A man arrested after Amber Alert was issued for his 8-year-old son will spend three years in prison.

Earlier this month, Jamie Hunt, 34, pleaded guilty to second degree recklessly endangering safety, strangulation and suffocation, and substantial battery.

A judge also ordered him to spend six years on extended supervision.

On the morning of June 10, 2017, Marathon County Sheriff’s deputies said Hunt, armed himself with a machete and assaulted his live-in girlfriend. Hunt, also believed to be high on methamphetamine, then left with their eight year-old son.

An immediate attempt-to-locate was broadcast to area law enforcement describing Hunt, the child, and the vehicle they left in. The boy was believed to be endangered and missing, causing the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office requested a statewide Amber Alert, a process to inform the public of an endangered child abduction.
