‘It’s very hard to tell your story:’ Woman who accused Memphis pastor of sexual assault tells her story

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) –

Controversy surrounds Pastor Andy Savage at the prominent Highpoint Church in East Memphis, after a woman claims he sexually assaulted her two decades ago.

Saturday night, WMC Action News 5 spoke exclusively to that accuser who is now sharing her story.

When Jules Woodson was a high school senior in Woodlands, Texas, she claims a minister she trusted changed her life forever.

“I was sexually assaulted by my youth minister when I was 17 years old,” Woodson said.

For the first time, Woodson is speaking publicly–exclusively with WMC Action News 5–about alleged sexual misconduct she claims happened at the hands of current Highpoint Minister Andy Savage, when he was in his early 20’s. 

“This is something I’ve struggled with all my life,” Woodson said.

Man indicted for sexual assault of child in 2006

A Wichita Falls man was arrested Tuesday on a sealed indictment from 2015 for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

Jason Wayne Carlile, 46, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child stemming from an incident in January of 2006.

He remained in the Wichita County Jail Thursday afternoon in lieu of $100,000 bail.

According to the sealed indictment, Carlile sexually assaulted a child younger than 14 years old on or about Jan. 1, 2006.

According to court documents:

Carlile was previously sentenced to 3 years in prison for indecency with a child on Oct. 4, 2007. The victim in that case – a 2-year-old male – appears to be a different victim than the one in the new indictment.

On June 18, 1994, Carlile “exposed the genitals of another adult

Harrisonburg Police Department Press Release:

Harrisonburg, VA – On November 6, officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) responded to JC Penny at 1925 East Market Street for an assault call for service. A female employee had been pepper sprayed by a customer who was confronted about an alleged shoplifting.

The victim was medically evaluated and suffered temporary injury associated with the pepper spray. The suspect has been described as a black female approximately five feet five inches tall to five feet six inches tall.

The suspect is said to weigh approximately 220 pounds with her hair braided up on the back of her head in the shape of a “U.” The suspect was last seen fleeing from the north side of the store and getting into a small grey sedan, possibly a Honda or Kia. At the time of the incident she was wearing a white shirt with blue jeans and carrying
