Authorities: Daughter, 16, of Ormond Beach woman missing in Mexico – Daytona Beach News

ORMOND BEACH — Amanda Memmelo got off a plane in Mexico City in mid-July and there has been no known trace of her since.

Memmelo turns 17 at the end of the month, but she has the mental capacity of a 12-year-old. She doesn’t speak Spanish and her uncle unexpectedly took her with him to the other end of North America — and no one seems to know why or for what purpose.

“I miss her very, very much,” said Amanda’s mother, Mary Foy, who lives in Ormond Beach and whose ex-husband lives in Hamilton, Ontario. “I was believing that she was coming home soon.”

Memmelo, who is autistic, had spent more than a year with her father and his family in Canada before she disappeared three months ago.

The Hamilton Police Service is among the law enforcement agencies investigating the missing-person case. Foy said

Authorities in central Arkansas identify homicide victim in 23-year-old cold case

Authorities on Friday publicly identified a woman who was found dead in a creek in Pulaski County in 1994.

Pulaski County sheriff’s office Sgt. Mike Blain said that Cynthia Robinson, who was 35 at the time of her death, was identified in March after her fingerprints had spent years in multiple national databases.

Blain said the quality of the prints had deteriorated due to Robinson’s body being found in water, but as technology improved authorities were able to find a match.

Robinson, who authorities said was working as a prostitute before her death, was found Feb. 18, 1994, by two fishermen in a creek near Settlement Road off of Arkansas 365. She had suffered several gunshot wounds, Blain said, adding police believe the body had been there for several days.

In 2001, her fingerprints were entered into a national database and

Authorities seek help identifying victims in Pr. George’s child porn case

A former Maryland substitute teacher and basketball coach is suspected of victimizing dozens of children in a child pornography case being investigated by both state and federal law enforcement.

Though authorities did not say exactly how many students they suspect Christopher H. Speights victimized, law enforcement officials say they think many more children — in addition to those they’ve identified — may be involved.

Officials publicized a phone number Friday and urged parents to call if they suspect their child had contact with Speights, a former substitute teacher at Bradbury Heights Elementary School and a basketball coach with South County Sports Academy.

Investigators are also working to identify victims outside of Prince George’s County and had contact with Speights in his capacity as a basketball coach with a traveling team, according to a statement from the Prince George’s County state’s attorney’s office.

Speights, 35, of Capitol Heights was arrested in April on allegations of

Authorities looking for Chesterfield man who led officers on high-speed pursuit

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield police have arrested a man who they say led officers on a high-speed pursuit on Aug. 29.

Police say that around 10 p.m., a Chesterfield officer tried to stop a Ford Expedition as it turned onto Chippenham Parkway from Hull Street Road.

“Even with emergency lights flashing and sirens blaring behind it, the vehicle did not stop, and instead led officers on a high-speed pursuit,” Chesterfield police’s press release said. “After speeding excessively on Route 288 and winding through neighborhoods along Jefferson Davis Highway, the Expedition eventually stopped along a wood line near Seminole Avenue and the driver escaped on foot.”

Officers were able to identify the driver as Kenneth Lee Patterson Sr., 42, from Chesterfield County. He was arrested by Chesterfield police on Sept. 1.
