How “American Vandal” becomes more than a dumb punchline

As a soloist, Dylan is a veritable Keith Haring of schlong, drawing outlines of penises on every surface that accepts ink. He’s the bane of most teachers, especially the no-nonsense Ms. Shapiro. Given that he’s none too bright, and a witness comes forth to implicate him in the dick spectacle, he’s expelled.

But Peter and Sam aren’t so sure. Plus, digging into the case makes for a worthy high school journalism project. Peter is the more inquisitive of the two; Sam is initially skeptical until Peter cites the first hole in the faculty’s case, a damning discrepancy involving pubes.

The forensic-driven mystery spirals outward from there, ensnaring fellow students, members of the faculty, employees, and parents and eventually taking on a bizarre life of its own. As the plot progresses, “American Vandal” become less

Going digital with newborns’ footprints — NJ hospital becomes first in the region

NEW BRUNSWICK — No two people share the same footprints. But when you just put a foot to ink and then foot to paper, it’s not easy to spot the distinct differences from human to human.

At Saint Peter’s University Hospital, ink and paper is now the old-fashioned way to collect a newborn’s footprints. The hospital has become the first in New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania to digitize the process. Shortly after delivery, the baby’s feet are scanned with the CertaScan system — completely safe for babies — and a digital copy is uploaded to the newborn’s electronic medical record, along with a photo of the baby.

“It links the baby to the mom,” Pam Harmon, director of women and children’s services at Saint Peter’s, told New Jersey 101.5. “We do the footprints of the baby and fingerprints of the

Roswell 9-1-1 Center Becomes Missing Kids Readiness Project Member

ROSWELL, GA — From the moment the report of a missing child comes in to the resolution of the case, every action taken has the potential to make the difference between a successful recovery and a tragic outcome.

The National Center for Missing Exploited Children developed the Missing Kids Readiness Project to promote best practices for responding to calls of missing, abducted and sexually exploited children. 9-1-1 call centers and law enforcement agencies are recognized for meeting essential training and policy elements demonstrating preparedness for responding to a missing child incident. One of the local call centers that have met these requirements is the Roswell Police Department’s 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center.

The city set out to meet these standards by working with the national center on its missing child guidelines to ensure it met the critical elements of its model policy for law enforcement agencies. In addition, Melissa Alterio, Roswell’s

‘Dream that becomes a nightmare’: Preventing abduction of children

A scared girl thinks she has few options. She doesn’t feel loved or understood at home, but she finds that comfort elsewhere.

She believes the older man when he says he loves her. And so she accepts his affections. She leaves with him when he tells her to follow.

It’s a scenario that may have taken 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas from her home in Columbia, Tenn., to a 12-by-12-foot cabin thousands of miles away in a remote northern California forest with 50-year-old former teacher Tad Cummins. Police say Cummins abducted his student, and federal authorities have charged him with transporting a minor in
