Missouri Supreme Court considering future for KC man who claims innocence in 1996 double murder

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri’s Supreme Court is now considering what happens next for a Kansas City convicted killer.

Ricky Kidd was sent away nearly 22 years ago for the murders of two men. But all along he has proclaimed his innocence.

If there’s one thing Monica Gray is used to, it’s waiting. She’s been waiting 22 years for Kidd, her long-time boyfriend, to be proven innocent of the two murders.

“They’re giving us injustice,” Gray said. “The system is broken, and it needs to be fixed.”

Gray’s case is in the hands of the Midwest Innocence Project, with a legal team that includes a former Jackson County assistant prosecutor and UMKC law professor.

Although they contend Kidd never should’ve been convicted based on conflicting witness testimony, the only shot to clear his name now is with DNA.

“In our case, we won the DNA motion. We got an order that the DNA be tested

Gaston County man arrested for kidnapping claims he is innocent

GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) –

Theodore Lipscomb is a free man. He was arrested Thanksgiving and charged with kidnapping an 18-month-old boy and stealing a car.

He says he is innocent and has this message for the mother who called 911 and had him arrested.

“I have no hard feelings against her,” Lipscomb said. “I still have love and consideration for her. I ask just speak the truth and let it be known that I would never hurt your child or take your vehicle for that matter. We’d been together that whole day.”

New Kit Claims to Help Find Missing People

Parents have a lot of worries. A big one is, what if my child goes missing? Now, there’s a new device that says it can be a big help finding missing kids, even senior citizens, who wander off.

For four decades, Bob Anderson’s been training K-9s to track the scent of criminals, missing people and lost children.

“I believe it can be extremely helpful,” said Anderson, who owns the International K-9 College in West Palm Beach.

Beth Falcon bought this Scent Evidence K-9 kit for her daughter, Mia. The jar preserves your child’s unique scent for a search and rescue dog to pick up. Simply swab under the child’s arm five times, put the swab inside and attach the seal.

“God forbid somebody took them or they got lost. I think as a parent that’s one of your biggest fears,” said Falcon.

Petition claims DNA proves VB man did not rape girl – WAVY

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia Beach man fighting a rape conviction from 1990 is getting some help. A petition filed with the Virginia Supreme Court claims DNA proves he didn’t do it.

Darnell Phillips was sentenced to 100 years in prison for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Virginia Beach.

The Innocence Project at the University of Virginia School of Law took on his case and recently filed a petition for writ of actual innocence on his behalf. It states the DNA testing completed in August did not match Phillips’. The Innocence Project says the only evidence against Phillips is a hair found at the crime scene that was believed to be Phillips’, although DNA testing completed in 2001 proved the hair did not belong to him.
