Mother’s boyfriend appears in court in connection to 3-year-old Mariah Woods’ death

The man charged in connection with the death of 3-year-old Mariah Kay Woods, whose remains were found over the weekend, had his first appearance in court Monday morning.

Earl Kimrey, 32, was arrested Friday and charged with concealing a death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property, according to arrest records.

Kimrey appeared in District Court on Monday morning to be read his rights and the charges. He is being held in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $1.01 million bond.

Kimrey is the boyfriend of Mariah’s mother, Kristy Woods, and was living with the two when the toddler was reported missing.

In a news release sent Saturday evening, an FBI spokeswoman said Mariah’s remains had been found in Shelter Creek along Shaw Highway in Pender County,

Sheriff Confirms ‘Person of Interest’ in Custody in Connection with Kaitlyn Kearns Case

UPDATE 11/17/17 AT 8:40 a.m.

Officials with the Will County Sheriff’s Office say a, “person of interest” is in custody in connection with the case of Kaitlyn Kearns.

 In an e-mail from sheriff’s office spokesperson Kathy Hoffmeyer, she says, ” the person in custody has retained an attorney, and we are unable to speak with him any further.”

Hoffmeyer adds that if any formal charges are made, that information will be made available. Additional evidence is being gathered, as well.

The 24 year-old Kearns of Mokena went missing after her shift at a Joliet bar. She was found dead, with a single gunshot wound to her head near Aroma Park in Kankakee County on Thursday morning.  

A homicide investigation into Kearn’s death is ongoing. The Will County Sheriff’s Office, who is handling the case, also confirmed that the Sheriff’s SWAT team executed a search warrant at the Outlaws Clubhouse in Joliet on Thursday morning.

Sources: Police Search Wooded Area in Connection to Mother’s 2007 Disappearance

The NBC Boston Investigators have confirmed that a search in a wooded area in Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood is connected to the disappearance of a local mother a decade ago.

Authorities are searching the woods off Enneking Parkway Thursday. The Investigators have confirmed that they are investigating the disappearance of 32-year-old Felicia McGuyer, who has been missing since Oct. 7, 2007.

McGuyer was last seen in the area of Roxton Street in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood. According to Boston Police in a 2013 press release requesting help in the investigation, it was not common behavior for McGuyer to be out of touch with her son, who was 10 at the time of the disappearance, or other family members or friends.

FBI agents and Massachusetts State Police are assisting Boston police with the search.

Edgefield County man charged in connection with child pornography investigation

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office charged an Edgefield County man Monday in connection to the distribution and possession of child pornography.

Robert Lehr Thomas, 48, of North Augusta, is charged with three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a release.

He faces up to 80 years in prison.

Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which led them to Thomas, the releases states.

Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Attorney General’s Office made the arrest Monday; investigators with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, both also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation, according to the release.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
