LANSING — Michigan taxpayers have been without tax credits for charitable donations since 2011, but some Republicans in the Senate are hoping to restore the credits.
They’ve introduced bills that would restore the tax credits for donations to community colleges and universities, public radio and television, community foundations, food banks and shelters, museums and the expenses associated with adoption.
As the state’s financial picture gets a little rosier, it’s time to help some of the state’s nonprofits survive, said state Sen. Goeff Hansen, R-Hart.
