Police are looking for a suspect they say tried to rob a Salisbury Best Western during the weekend.

Officers responded to the Best Western on North Salisbury Boulevard at about 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7 for a report of an attempted robbery, Salisbury Police Capt. Rich Kaiser said during Tuesday’s weekly briefing.

“The investigation revealed that a sole male suspect had entered the business through the front door,” he said. “He immediately approached the counter as well as the sole employee that was working and demanded money.”

The man implied he had a gun, Kaiser said, but never actually displayed one.

Montgomery County school employee charged in child porn case …

A Maryland man who based his career on his love of children — working with them in schools, camps and church; writing books and lesson plans for them; reviewing television shows and making videos for them — was arrested Friday on charges that he possessed and distributed child pornography.

Sean Kelley, 30, was caring for children in at least three paid positions last year — in Montgomery County public elementary schools and a Burtonsville church — when he became the subject of a pornography investigation.

School and church officials say the children in the sexually explicit images that Kelley downloaded and distributed were neither Montgomery students nor members of the church.

Still, the arrest of a man who worked with children for more than a decade sent waves of alarm through his school and faith communities.

“These charges are extremely upsetting and distressing,” Cloverly Elementary School Principal Melissa Brunson wrote in a letter

Montgomery County school employee charged in child porn case

A Montgomery County school employee who worked at two elementary schools was arrested Friday and charged with distributing child pornography.

The school district says that the pornographic images that Sean Kelley, 30, is charged with possessing and distributing did not show photographs of Montgomery County students.

“These charges are extremely upsetting and distressing. This type of behavior does not reflect the principles of MCPS or our community, and it will not be tolerated,” Cloverly Elementary School Principal Melissa Brunson wrote in a letter to parents on Friday, after Kelley was arrested by Maryland State Police.

Kelley worked as a part-time lunch aide at Cloverly, Brunson said. School district spokesman Derek Turner said he was hired in October 2016 and worked until September, when he was placed on administrative leave.

Kelley also spent four days working at the Kids After Hours day-care program at Cannon Road Elementary School, during the first week of this

Brian Banks, former NFL employee who was wrongfully imprisoned, has message for Texans owner Bob McNair

Brian Banks, the Southern California high school football star who served six years in prison for a rape he did not commit, would like to extend a hand to besieged Texans owner Bob McNair.

Well, not an entire hand — just the middle finger.

Banks, who now works as a spokesman for the California Innocence Project and who also worked for the NFL, took to twitter Friday and posted from his account @BrianBanksFree, “Bob McNair (middle finger emoji),” to express his feelings about the embattled owner after McNair’s controversial comments about protesting football players.

In a meeting of NFL owners, McNair was quoted as saying, “we can’t have inmates running

Corporate Close-Up: Intelligence Gathering by Pet Detectives and Other Employee Activities in Maryland Create …

Blue Buffalo
Company, a Delaware corporation headquartered and domiciled in Connecticut,
failed to convince the Maryland Tax Court that its activities in Maryland were
limited to the solicitation of orders for its products and de minimis ancillary
activities. As a result, the court concluded that the company was subject to
Maryland income tax.

Seeking a
refund of more than $700,000 for taxes paid to Maryland for tax years 2011 and
2012, Blue Buffalo argued that all its business activities in the state fell
under the protection of Pub. L. No. 86-272 (codified in 15 U.S.C. 381). Accordingly,
the company’s position was that its activities did not amount to doing business
in Maryland, and federal law protected the company from Maryland’s taxing
jurisdiction.

Blue Buffalo
sells premium pet products through national retail stores such as Petco and
PetSmart. During 2011 and 2012, Blue Buffalo’s employees in Maryland included
