Mother, 2-Year-Old Son Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide at Maryland Townhouse

Police believe a Maryland woman killed her 2-year-old son before taking her own life Saturday night.

A family member called 911 about 10 p.m. asking police to do a welfare check at a townhouse on Countrywood Court in Landover, Maryland. When officers arrived, they found the 34-year-old woman and little boy inside. They were both pronounced dead at the house, police said.

Both the woman and the boy died of asphyxiation, police said.

Police identified the mother as Yu Song and the son as Joseph Wang. They both lived on Gumper Court in Glen Burnie, police said.

Neighbors told News4 the Song’s husband showed up to the townhouse and banged on the door before police came and found her and the child dead.

Neighbors said the family had recently moved out of the townhouse, but Song somehow got inside.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 301-772-4925. Callers

Woman’s Body Found Behind Maryland Shopping Center

UPDATE: Police have confirmed the woman found dead is 21-year-old Dania Mendez de Guerra, who was reported missing. See the latest developments here.

A woman’s body was found behind a shopping center in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Friday afternoon.

Authorities received a 911 call about 3:30 p.m. about an unresponsive person behind a business at University Boulevard East and Elkin Street in Wheaton, police said.

First responders found the body next to a dumpster behind a CVS.

It’s a busy area where people often cut through to get to a large apartment complex.

The scene is two blocks from where a missing woman was last seen Tuesday just after midnight. Police said they’re looking into the possibility that the missing person was the woman found dead.

An autopsy will be performed by the chief medical examiner’s office in Baltimore.

Authorities searched the home and electronic devices that belonged to Whyte and found “multiple files of child pornography,” police said in a statement.

Maryland Man Arrested On Child Porn Charges

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Maryland man is behind bars after police report finding child pornography on his electronic devices.

23-year-old Austin Whyte has been charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography and six counts of possession of child pornography.

The investigation into Whyte began after the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force got information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that child porn was being distributed from a Maryland address.

The task force found that the child porn was being sent from Whyte’s home in Accokeek, and they got a warrant to search the home.

Authorities served the search warrant Wednesday morning, and seized several electronic devices.

A search of those devices found multiple child pornography files on it, according to Maryland State Police.
