Petersburg police identify carjacking suspect; victim in stable condition

PETERSBURG, Va. – Petersburg police have identified a suspect wanted for carjacking, then dragging the victim about a half-mile behind his own truck.

Tony James Woodley, 24, of Petersburg,  is wanted for grand larceny, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.

Petersburg police found the victim on the night of December 13, off Boydton Plank Road. The initial calls reported that a man had been shot in the head but that proved to be false, after further examination at the emergency room.

Crime Insider sources say the victim dragged about a half-mile and left with life-threatening injuries. They say he was battered and bloodied with road rash.

Hours later, the suspect was seen driving the vehicle into several cars parked on Melville Street. At that location, police say the carjacker then ran off on foot.

Victim dragged during Petersburg carjacking remains unconscious …

PETERSBURG, Va. – Authorities are asking for the public’s help as a Petersburg cajacking victims remains hospitalized.

The incident happened when a suspect stole the victim’s pickup truck in the 1700 block of Boydton Plank Road reportedly around 9:59 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Emanuel Chambliss with Petersburg Police said Friday evening that the victim remains unconscious, but is in stable condition at an area hospital.

Chambliss said the victim’s injuries were likely sustained when they were dragged holding onto the pickup.

Petersburg Police and Virginia State Police are conducting a joint investigation.

“We are still asking that anyone that may have witnessed the incident to contact either agency,” Chambliss said.

Sources said the vehicle stolen was a 2016 Dodge pickup truck, white in color, VA Registration VXZ3294.

PETERSBURG, Va. – A shooting victim has been rushed to the hospital after being shot in the head Wednesday night in Petersburg, Crime Insider sources tell Jon Burkett.

Those sources say after the victim was shot, the suspect stole their vehicle in the 1700 block of Boydton Plank Road. The incident reportedly happened around 9:59 p.m.

The shooting victim has been transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Sources say the vehicle stolen was a 2016 Dodge pickup truck, white in color, VA Registration VXZ3294.

No additional information has been released at this time. Detectives are actively working the case.

Robbery suspect used Facebook to lure victim to Petersburg motel, police say

PETERSBURG, Va. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help to locate a suspect wanted for robbing a man at a Petersburg motel Sunday morning.

Lt. Emanuel Chambliss with the Petersburg Bureau of Police said Melissa Chatham and Sean Wallace, who is also known as Sean Johnson, used Facebook to lure a man to a room at the Flagship Inn in the 800 block of S. Crater Road at 8 a.m.

“Once in the room Wallace robbed the victim,” Chambliss said. “No weapon was displayed, but Wallace motioned that he had one during the robbery.”

Officials said warrants are on file for Wallace for robbery, conspiracy and abduction.

Chatham is in police custody, Chambliss said.
