Off and on for four years, photographer Isabelle Arnaud traveled from the deafening noise of New York City to the haunting quiet of east central Mississippi.

Arnaud was sad and angry that two men from Noxubee County — Levon Brooks and Kennedy Brewer — spent a combined three decades in prison for rapes and murders they didn’t commit.

She was inspired by their forgiving attitudes and their quests

Boston man imprisoned for coercing young girls to send nude photos

BOSTON – A Boston man was sentenced to serve seven years in prison after he admitted he got young girls to send him explicit photos by threatening to kill their families, the Boston Globe reported.

Hector Acevedo, 27, of Roxbury, entered guilty pleas to charges of posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity for sexual conduct, possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography, distributing obscene material to a minor and attempted extortion and human trafficking of a minor.

Acevedo was sentenced Tuesday, the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office said.

According to prosecutors, Acevedo approached the girls online and threatened to kill their families if they didn’t send sexually explicit photographs of themselves. Authorities said two girls, aged 11 and 12 at the time of the coercion, sent photos. Acevedo solicited a third girl, but she did not follow through.

I-Team: Social Media Predator Terrorizes NYC Girl, Threatens and Fishes for Nude Photos

A 12-year-old New York City girl was terrorized by an online stalker who tried to extort naked pictures from her last year on Instagram, and incredibly, her family was unable to get the NYPD or Instagram to investigate the predator until News 4’s I-Team got involved.

“I was just so frightened, I didn’t know what to do,” Ella, now 13, told the I-Team of the moment she realized her friendly-looking follower was not who she thought.

The predator, using a profile picture of a young girl in a gymnastics pose, had already worked his way into Ella’s friend group on Instagram before Ella accepted their follow request, allowing the stranger into her private page.

“I thought it was a young girl who maybe knew me from somewhere. A friend of a friend. I thought it was safe,” said Ella, who lives on the Upper West Side.

Principal goes to prison after stealing and uploading students’ nude photos

A former high school principal in Kentucky was sentenced yesterday to nine years in federal prison on child pornography charges after taking nude photos from phones confiscated from students and sharing the photos online.

The former principal, Stephen Kyle Goodlett, pleaded guilty to charges of transporting child pornography and knowingly possessing child pornography “that had been transported in interstate commerce.” He waived his right to appeal the sentence and “admits all acts and essential elements of the indictment,” the plea agreement says.

Nude pictures of students were uploaded to an “anon-ib,” or anonymous image board, a website based in Russia.

“I deserve to go to prison”

“What I’ve done is morally reprehensible,” Goodlett said

Police arrested 44-year-old Mike Hedges on Jan. 26, who’s suspected of sexual exploitation of a child, a class three felony. He’s being held in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center without bond.

In the arrest documents, a detective said CSPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip on Aug. 31, 2016 from Synchronoss Technologies, a company which provides cloud-based storage.

The tip was submitted from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which said five images were uploaded to their servers from Hedge’s phone number.

Police said they obtained a search warrant on Dec. 2, 2016, then more than eight months later, Synchronoss Technologies provided the images on July 27, 2017. Police said those files were corrupted and unusable. A month later, the company provided
