29 YEARS LATER: Prince George’s County police search for clues in death of 27-year-old back in 1989

– Nearly three decades after a young biologist was found beaten, raped and strangled to death in Prince George’s County, detectives continue to search for her killer.

The body of Cynthia Rodgers was found alongside a dirt path littered with trash in a wooded area of Forestville five days after she was last heard from in the early morning hours of Super Bowl Sunday in 1989.

When homicide detectives first examined the body of the 27-year-old, they knew immediately a wicked killer was at work.

“It was a very brutal attack. She had multiple blunt force injuries about her upper body and head. She was strangled to death and there were indications she was sexually assaulted as well so it was a very vicious attack, extremely vicious,” cold case detective Bernie Nelson recalled.

Nelson said he believed Cynthia Rodgers was attacked shortly after she left her apartment, perhaps running into her

Search for long missing Michigan teens continues after investigative dead-end

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – A Michigan cold case gets colder, but national investigators aren’t giving up on finding three missing boys.

With every passing day, the chances of finding a missing child go down.
The Skelton brothers of Morenci, Michigan disappeared in 2010, and investigators concede time is not on their side. “But it doesn’t mean that the lights go out,” said Bob Lowery with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Lowery is a vice president with NCMEC’s Missing Child Division. He said he thought a recent lead might finally provide answers in the Skelton case.

Last year, authorities in Missoula, Montana discovered the remains of three children. “Other than the Skelton children, we’re not aware of three other children that are missing who would be related,” said Lowery.

But Lowery remained skeptical though. Andrew, Alexander, Tanner and rest of the

This man claimed he was having a heart attack when deputies arrived to search his home for child porn.

A Venice man facing child pornography charges hid his laptop under dirty clothes in a clothes hamper and claimed to be having a heart attack when deputies arrived to search his home, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Edward McManis, 49, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with 40 counts of possession of child pornography. He is being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.

The investigation of McManis began when undercover detectives identified an IP address — later traced to McManis — that was used to download and was in possession of 107 files previously identified as containing child pornography by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children between Dec. 31 and Tuesday, according to a probable cause affidavit.

During the investigation, detectives say they were able to download child pornography from McManis on seven different occasions, most recently in the early morning hours Tuesday.

Police search continues for missing Stockton mother

STOCKTON — Police officers have met with the family of missing Stockton woman Ashley Holloway and are checking the last known locations where she was known to have visited, a department spokesman said Tuesday.

“She has not come across our radar” since she disappeared the evening of Feb. 4, Officer Joe Silva said.

Holloway, 30 and the mother of three girls, went outside her east Stockton home at the conclusion of the Super Bowl to walk the family dog and simply “vanished,” her mother Kimberly Holloway said this week. The dog returned to the house but Ashley did not.

The family initially notified the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office of Ashley’s disappearance and then learned the case fell in the jurisdiction of the Stockton Police Department. Family members combed the neighborhood around Ashley’s home at Searchlight Avenue and East Anderson Street,
