COLONIAL HEIGHTS — The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to solve a case involving identity theft and fraud.
 
Just prior to noon on Wednesday, Jan. 24, a dark-complexioned black male walked to the mobile phone area of the Best Buy store in Colonial Heights. He presented identification as if he was a customer from out of state, and used that identification to make changes to a victim’s account. Eventually, he had shut down a real customer’s account and walked away from the store with a brand new iPhone X.

Colonial Heights police looking for phone fraud suspect

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program is looking for a suspect in a case of identity theft and fraud.

Just before noon on Wednesday, January 24, a man walked into the mobile phone area of the Best Buy in Colonial Heights. He presented identification as if he was a customer from out of state, and used that identification to make changes to a victim’s account.

Eventually, police say he shut down a real customer’s account and walked away from the store with a brand new iPhone X.

UPDATE: 24-Year- Waldorf, Suspect Still at Large

UPDATE: On February 17 at 8:54 p.m., officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to the 12100 block of Ell Lane in Waldorf for the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim, identified as Brandon Andrew Briscoe, 24, of Waldorf, was transported to a hospital where he subsequently died.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to assume the investigation.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect approached Briscoe while he was standing outside of an apartment building. The suspect shot Briscoe several times, and then he fled on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective J. Elliott at 301-609-6515. Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this
